Mornington Basketball lists its main office and stadium at 1051 Nepean Highway, Mornington 3931, the same address Mornington Peninsula Shire gives for Mornington Secondary College. The association's second venue is Mornington Civic Reserve, 350 Dunns Road, Mornington. Its representative teams are the Breakers.
Mornington Basketball's contact page lists its main office and stadium at 1051 Nepean Highway, Mornington VIC 3931. Mornington Peninsula Shire's community directory lists Mornington Basketball Stadium at that same address, and lists Mornington Secondary College at 1051 Nepean Highway too.
So if your maps app drops you at the secondary college, that isn't a mistake. The stadium and the college share an address, and the association's own history describes its stadium as a collaborative effort with Mornington Secondary College.
The association lists a second venue as well, Mornington Civic Reserve at 350 Dunns Road, Mornington VIC 3931. That's a different site with a different street, so the address on your fixture matters more than the name of the association at the top of it.
Mornington Basketball's history explains why there are two names floating around. The association says it settled at the David Collings Centre on Dunn's Road in 1993, and subsequently operated from its three court stadium, built as a collaborative effort with Mornington Secondary College.
Today the association's contact page names Nepean Highway as its stadium and main office, and lists Mornington Civic Reserve on Dunns Road as well, so both addresses are current.
Mornington Peninsula Shire's Civic Reserve page lists the reserve at 350 Dunns Road and says the Civic Reserve Recreation Centre caters for basketball alongside table tennis, netball, volleyball, gym, yoga, pilates and childcare. The shire also lists soccer pitches, tennis courts, a bowls club, croquet courts, an athletics facility, a playground and a skatepark at the reserve.
The practical rule is simple. Read the venue line on the fixture, not just the time, and check it again the night before if your child has played at both sites.
Mornington District Basketball Association runs junior and senior domestic competition and the Breakers representative program. The association's site lists programs including Jump Ball, Ground Breakers and Ground Breakhers, holiday camps, a Breakers development squad and a high performance program, along with 2027 Breakers tryouts and 2027 VBL tryouts.
Domestic basketball is entered through clubs. The association's domestic clubs page asks anyone looking to get involved in domestic basketball to try one of the club contacts it lists, and links to club websites including Balcombe Heat, Benton, Osborne United and Southend Spirit.
Because the association sends new players to a club rather than to its office, the club is your first call if you've a question about your child's team.
Mornington Basketball's phone number is 03 5975 0067, answered in office hours only. The association says its office is generally staffed between 10am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, and recommends email when the office is unstaffed.
The general address is admin@morningtonbasketball.com.au. Competitions and referees go to comps@morningtonbasketball.com.au, and pathways and development go to development@morningtonbasketball.com.au.
Fixtures are published on PlayHQ, and the association links to the MyHoops app from its site. Download it before the season starts so the venue and court are on your phone, not on a printout in the glovebox.
Neither the association nor the shire publishes a parking count or a parking policy for the Nepean Highway stadium, so this guide won't guess at one. What any parent can do is arrive with enough time to park, find the court and get your child warmed up before the previous game finishes.
If your child is new to the sport, walk in with them and find their coach before you sit down. A quick hello in week one makes the rest of the season easier for everyone.
Bring a drink bottle and a jumper. Kids sit on the bench between rotations and can cool down quickly.
And before you leave home, check which of the two venues you're going to.
