About this guide

This guide is compiled and written by Liddicoat Basketball, an independent coaching business in Melbourne. We gather publicly available facts from official sources, write the explanations ourselves, and link back to the source on every page so you can check us.

What we are not

Liddicoat Basketball has no affiliation with Basketball Victoria, the VJBL, or any association or club named on this site. We aren't endorsed by them and we don't speak for them.

Nothing here's an official ruling. If this guide and an association disagree, the association is right and we're wrong.

How the information is put together

  • We collect facts from official sources, which means league and association websites and published handbooks.
  • We write every explanation in our own words. We do not reproduce anyone else's text.
  • Every page lists its sources with a link and the date we last checked them.
  • Where sources disagree, we use the governing body over a club site and say which one we used.
  • Pages that do not have enough verified information behind them do not get published.

Things change every season

Fees, venues, season dates and grading structures change from year to year. We date every page and re-check the sources, but there will always be a gap between a change happening and us catching it.

So confirm anything you're actually relying on with the association directly. Use this guide to understand how the system works, not as the final word on a date.

Tell us if we have it wrong

If something on this site is out of date or incorrect, email admin@liddicoatbasketball.com.au and we will fix it. If you run an association or club and want your entry changed or removed, tell us and we will do it.

How we decide what gets a page

We don't write a page unless people are actually looking for the thing. We check real search demand first, and anything with almost no interest gets folded into a bigger page instead of padded out into its own.

That's deliberate. A site full of thin pages written to catch traffic is worse than a smaller site that answers properly, and search engines treat it that way too.

  • If we cannot verify a fact from an official source, it does not go on the page.
  • If a page cannot say anything the official site does not already say better, we link to them instead.
  • If the facts behind a page go out of date, the page comes down until we recheck them.
