Casey Stadium, Berwick-Cranbourne Road

Casey Stadium is at 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East VIC 3977, where Casey Basketball is based, and home of the Cavaliers. City of Casey lists a premiere show court, spectator seating for 1,500 people, a cafe, a function room, change rooms and upgraded car parking. Some games are played at school venues nearby.

Where it is

Casey Basketball lists its address as Casey Stadium, 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Rd, Cranbourne East VIC 3977. Note the suburb: it's Cranbourne East, not Cranbourne, which is worth knowing if you're typing a suburb into a maps app rather than a full address.

The association's contact page adds a building reference, Building 4, and City of Casey gives the address as 04 Terry Vickerman Building, 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road. City of Casey describes the site as a central recreational precinct, so the building name helps if you're dropping off at the front door.

Casey Basketball's office is at the stadium. The phone number is 5996 6033 and the competitions email is comps@caseybasketball.com.au. Postal mail goes to PO Box 5408, Cranbourne VIC 3977, not to the stadium.

What is inside

City of Casey describes an 18 million dollar redevelopment, launched in August 2017, that added five new courts including a premiere show court, spectator seating for 1,500 people, a multi purpose function room, a new foyer and entrance, upgraded and additional car parking, a cafe and piazza, and new change rooms and toilets.

Basketball Victoria reported in 2019 that a second stage, worth 7.3 million dollars, delivered new and upgraded multipurpose courts for basketball, netball, badminton and volleyball, including a mini show court. When the 18 million dollar redevelopment was announced in January 2016, Netball Victoria reported that its five new courts would bring the total number of courts to 10. That was a forecast made before either stage was built, and none of the sources this guide checked gives a current court count.

Basketball Victoria described the Stage 1 show court as having seating for up to 1,500 spectators. In a multi court building, find your court number before you find a seat, and agree a meeting spot with your child before you split up.

Who plays here

Casey Basketball calls itself the home of the Casey Cavaliers, and its site carries junior Cavaliers tryouts and NBL1 fixtures alongside domestic competition. Basketball Victoria's 2019 report listed the Casey Cavaliers among the teams based at the stadium, alongside the Casey Demons netball club, the Casey Stars indoor cricket club and Casey Gymnastics Club.

Junior domestic is organised through clubs. Casey Basketball's domestic club page suggests that anyone looking to join a junior team contacts one of its listed clubs directly, and shows club logos including Berwick Basketball, Botanic Ridge, Merinda Park, Narre Magic and Pearcedale.

Because the building is shared, a weekend at Casey Stadium may have netball, gymnastics or an event on at the same time as basketball. Basketball Victoria's 2019 report said the venue attracts Big V games, college basketball games, Victorian Netball League games and the Sikh Games.

It is not the only venue on the fixture

Casey Basketball publishes a list of external venues alongside the main stadium. It names Wulerrp Secondary College and Hillcrest Christian College in Clyde North, and Hampton Park Secondary College in Hampton Park.

The association's venue page gives access notes for each. For Hampton Park Secondary College, at the corner of Fordholm Road and Campbell Drive, it says access to the stadium and parking is via Campbell Drive. For the Clyde North schools, at the corner of Soldiers Road and Thompsons Road, it says access is via the unnamed road off Soldiers Road.

Follow those access notes, and check the venue on your child's fixture each week rather than assuming every game is at Cranbourne East.

A first visit

Neither the association nor the council publishes opening hours or a casual shooting price for Casey Stadium on the pages this guide checked, so ring the stadium or the association if you're hoping to book a court outside your child's games.

For a first game, arrive with enough time to park, walk in, find the right court and let your child see their bench before the previous game ends.

There's a cafe on site, but the usual advice applies. Feed your child well before tip off, bring a drink bottle, and pack a jumper for the bench between rotations.

If you're registering for the first time, start with a club or with the association rather than the stadium. The association's domestic club page points new junior players to the clubs first.
