That Cadbury landmark is the one to hold onto. Canterbury Road through that stretch is fast, busy and full of similar looking industrial frontages, and the chocolate factory across the road is the only thing you can't miss. If you find yourself past it, you've gone too far.
The venue used to be called the Maroondah Indoor Sports Centre, and you'll still see that name on older fixture documents and in a few directories. Same building.
Maroondah Leisure describes the stadium as having an ample car park, and notes it suits bus groups, which tells you the bays are large and the access isn't tight. Compared with the inner suburban school stadiums on the same fixture, this is an easy one.
Because it's a four court venue rather than a ten court one, the turnover is gentler. Games finish, one wave of families leaves, the next arrives. If you come ten minutes early you'll almost always find something.
Ringwood Basketball Association points people to the Canterbury Road exit off EastLink as the approach, so if you're coming from the south that's the route to take rather than working your way across on side streets.

The air conditioning isn't a small thing. A January Saturday in a tin shed stadium is genuinely unpleasant for a kid playing three quarters, and this is one of the venues where you don't have to think about it.
There's a canteen, and for some senior games a licensed bar operates. Maroondah Leisure also lists a cafe at the venue, along with a 102 square metre multipurpose room that gets used for meetings and presentations.
Ringwood Basketball Association runs competitions for roughly 2,300 players of all ages in and around the City of Maroondah, and The Rings is home to the lot of them. The junior Saturday domestic competition here runs under the Greater Eastern Basketball Conference banner, from Under 8 through to Under 23.
The association's domestic clubs that feed the Ringwood Hawks representative program are Heathmont Hornets, Spirit Magic, Ringwood Celtics and Mitcham Thunder. If your child plays for one of those, this is your home stadium.
The Rings also hosts Ringwood Hawks junior representative teams from Under 12 to Under 20, men's and women's Big V and NBL1, open age and over 30s domestic, a women's daytime competition and an open mixed competition. Nunawading Basketball lists The Rings as one of the venues in its own Saturday GEBC fixture too, so you may end up here even if you're not a Ringwood family.
Four courts is a manageable room. You can stand at the door and see every game, which makes finding your child's court far easier than it's at the bigger stadiums, and it means the noise level is loud without being overwhelming.
Junior domestic games run to a fixed clock and the fixture moves through the day, so arrive with time to get a seat in the grandstand if you want one. On a full Saturday the good viewing spots go early.
If your child has moved up into representative basketball, note that VJBL games are played at venues all around Melbourne and some regional areas, often on Friday nights but also on weekends, so the Saturday routine at The Rings is only half the story.
Bring cash or a card for the canteen and assume your child will want something after the game rather than before it. Feeding a kid ten minutes before tip off is a well known mistake.
The grandstand seating means you can actually watch comfortably here, which isn't true of every venue on the fixture. Some of the school stadiums on the same competition have a strip of floor and nothing else.
If you're weighing up associations in the outer east, The Rings being a single home venue is a real advantage. Plenty of associations spread their Saturday across five or six school halls, and the difference in weekend admin over a season is significant.
