Send a clip, get it pulled apart

Film thirty seconds on your phone and send it through the group chat. You get back what is actually happening, the one thing to change, and how to practise the change. Seeing the movement beats describing it, and it is worth more than an hour of drills done wrong.

Liddicoat Basketball, coaching players aged 7 to 17

Thirty seconds on a phone is enough

You do not need good light, a tripod, or a real court. A phone, from the side, thirty seconds of them shooting or handling the ball, is enough to see what is going on.

Side on is usually more useful than front on for shooting, because the things that go wrong tend to go wrong in the elbow and the release rather than left to right. For ball handling, closer is better than wider.

Send it in the group chat and it gets looked at properly rather than glanced at.

Why this is the highest value thing in the plan

An hour of drills done with a flaw in them makes the flaw more permanent. That is the uncomfortable truth about practice: it does not make perfect, it makes permanent.

Most young players have one or two mechanical issues that are quietly capping them, and they cannot see them because nobody films them. Their coach has fifteen players and ninety minutes, so nobody is watching one kid's elbow.

Fixing one of those is worth more than adding another session. It is the cheapest large improvement available to almost every junior player.

What comes back

Three things. What is actually happening, in plain terms rather than coaching jargon. The one thing to change. And how to practise the change so it holds under pressure rather than only in an empty gym.

That last part matters. A correction that only survives in a quiet gym is not fixed. So the feedback includes how to build it up until it holds in a game.

If the clip shows something that is genuinely fine, that is what comes back too. Not every problem is technical, and inventing one to look useful helps nobody.

Questions parents ask

How often can we send clips?

As often as you like. There is no cap and it is the part of the plan most worth using.

Does the video quality matter?

No. A phone from the side is fine. Steady beats sharp.

Who films it?

You do. Clips are parent filmed and they stay in the private group chat.

Ready to start, or still weighing it up?

Both plans are month to month with no joining fee and no lock in. Ask me anything before you sign up to anything.
