Manly Warringah Basketball Association is based at the Northern Beaches Indoor Sports Centre in Warriewood, and its junior rep teams are the Manly Sea Eagles. Trials for the 2027 season are on Sundays 18 and 25 October and 1 November 2026, at $60. Local competitions are grouped by school year, with Miniball for Years 3 to 6.

Manly Warringah Basketball Association Inc runs local competitions and the Manly Sea Eagles Under 12 to Under 18 representative program. Its home is the Northern Beaches Indoor Sports Centre (NBISC) in Warriewood, which the association calls the home of Manly Basketball. The association hires the centre rather than owning it.
The association says it limits the number of rep teams it fields to ensure quality, describing its rep players as the best of the best on the peninsula. That matters for your expectations at trials: a cap on teams is a cap on spots, so expect strong competition in every age group.
Manly's junior representative trials for the 2027 season are on Sunday 18 October, Sunday 25 October and Sunday 1 November 2026 at NBISC. Registration is through Humanitix at $60 per participant, and refunds are available up to 7 days before the event. Players invited back must be available for all dates, except for clashes with Basketball NSW programs.
The 2027 age groups are Under 12 for players born 2016 and later, Under 14 for 2014 or 2015, Under 16 for 2012 or 2013, and Under 18 for 2010 or 2011. Start times listed for the trials are 8:30am for Under 18s, 10am for Under 16s, 12 noon for Under 12s and 1:30pm for Under 14s. Returning 2026 Manly rep players trialling for Under 14, 16 and 18 boys do not need to attend the first session on 18 October, because of high numbers in those groups.
If your child has played rep in a Waratah Junior League for another association, you must complete the Basketball NSW Intent to Trial form before trialling. Basketball NSW's rules say the form is required before a registered player trials somewhere new, and that it is not a clearance. Manly takes no more than two transfers per junior age group from other Metro league associations, and a family that has moved into the Northern Beaches Council area does not count as a transfer.

Manly's 2026 Representative Basketball Information sheet explains the structure. The top Under 14, 16 and 18 teams may nominate for the Junior Premier League (JPL), a statewide competition with some central venue weekends against country clubs, which can need players for both Saturday and Sunday and sometimes an overnight stay. Most teams play in the Sydney Metro Junior League (MJL), from Under 12 to Under 18, with divisions set by pre-season results.
For 2027, Basketball NSW's Waratah Junior League Rules of Operation list a league called the Waratah State Championships alongside the MJL and do not mention the JPL.
Pre-season usually starts in mid-February, games begin around mid-March and finals are usually in late July. Rep games are played on Sundays, so they will clash with other Sunday sports, and pre-season, JPL games and State Championships can need Saturday play. Teams have 10 players and usually train twice a week. The sheet states plainly that playing time will not be equal, and every parent is expected to attend a scoretable course.
The same 2026 sheet says fees are set at $850, invoiced as a $425 deposit when teams are announced and a $425 balance before the season starts in March. The association supplies the numbered playing singlet, and other uniform items are bought online. The two official sources do not agree, though: when we checked on 9 October 2026, Manly's Junior Rep Program page still said representative fees for 2026 had not been set. That page says fees cover training, Waratah Metro Junior League fixtures, State Cup and State Championships, and that the program is heavily subsidised by the association. No 2027 fee was published, so confirm the amount with the association before you accept a place.
NBISC is the main venue, with six courts. Manly also uses school and church courts for local competition. Its venues page gives two different suburbs for the St Luke's courts at 224 Headland Road, North Curl Curl and Dee Why, so check your draw before you leave. The association decides venues once all team entries are in, so be ready to get to any of them during a season.
| Venue | Address |
|---|---|
| Northern Beaches Indoor Sports Centre (NBISC) | Jacksons Rd, Warriewood NSW 2102, opposite the shopping centre (no street number published) |
| The Pittwater House School (TPHS) | 70 S Creek Rd, Collaroy NSW 2097 |
| Pittwater Uniting Church (PUC) | 10 Jubilee Ave, Warriewood NSW 2102 |
| Narrabeen Sports High School (NSHS) | 10 Namona St, North Narrabeen NSW 2101 (also written as Narrabeen on the same page) |
| St Luke's Grammar School | 224 Headland Road. The venues page gives the suburb as both North Curl Curl and Dee Why NSW 2099, and the junior page notes the courts are not on the school premises. |
Manly groups local competition by school year rather than by age. The junior competition is for high school Years 7 to 12, in boys or girls teams. Miniball is a mixed competition for primary school Years 3 to 6, and there is a beginner level for primary school as well.
Semester Two 2026 started in the week of Monday 20 July, with finals from the week of Monday 30 November 2026. Junior games are on weekday afternoons and evenings: Year 7 girls and boys on Mondays from 4:20pm, Year 9 boys on Thursdays, and Years 11 and 12 on Fridays. Miniball plays on Tuesdays for Years 3 to 5 and Wednesdays for Year 6. Teams choose a division, from Division One for representative or highly skilled players down to Division Four for teams new to formal competition.
The 2026 fees, as published on 9 October 2026, are a junior team fee of $1450 per competition, split between the 7 to 10 players in the team, plus $120 player registration, which renews every 12 months and covers Basketball NSW insurance. Miniball is $1295 per team per competition plus $115 player registration. A $190 non-refundable deposit secures the team's place at nomination, and Active Kids vouchers are accepted for player registration.
Aussie Hoops, Basketball Australia's introductory program for 5 to 10 year olds, runs at NBISC on Sundays from 9am to 10am. Term 4 2026 runs from Sunday 18 October to Sunday 6 December, eight weekly sessions of 60 minutes. It costs $180 for new participants, including a welcome pack with a bag, ball and singlet, or $130 for returning participants.
The association also lists Saturday Learn to Play for ages 5 to 12, girls-only Pink Ball for ages 7 to 12 and Little Opals for girls aged 6 to 8, and school holiday camps for ages 5 to 14.
Manly limits the number of rep teams it fields, so it is worth knowing the other options before trials. Division One of local competition is described as the level for representative or highly skilled players, so that is the level to aim for if your child is a strong player who missed selection.
MWBA Academy is the association's term program for players 8 and over, run by Manly rep coach Steve Shortland, and the association says it has a record of players making it into Manly rep teams. Its High Performance groups are for Division 1 and 2 local players who have played at least two seasons, or by grading. Term Four 2026 starts on Tuesday 13 October at Narrabeen Sports High School and costs $150 for 8 weeks.
Bounce Camps in the school holidays are for intermediate to advanced players aged 12 to 16. The Rep Ready Camp for aspiring rep players aged 10 and over ran on 6 and 7 October 2026, just before trials, and is worth watching for next year. Manly's representative camps are invitation only, for current rep and squad players.
For local competition, a team manager aged 18 or over nominates the team through the association's Membership Dashboard. If your child has no team, put their name on the Single Player Board, which is where managers look when they need a player.
For the Sea Eagles, register on Humanitix before the first trial. The association's contact details are 02 9913 3622 and MWBA@manlybasketball.com.au.

Manly's 2026 Representative Basketball Information sheet sets the fee at $850, as a $425 deposit and a $425 balance, but its Junior Rep Program page still said 2026 fees had not been set when we checked on 9 October 2026. No 2027 fee was published, so ask the association.
Miniball is Manly's mixed local competition for primary school Years 3 to 6. It plays on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, and the 2026 team fee is $1295 per competition plus $115 player registration.
