Sunbury Basketball: a parent's guide

Sunbury Basketball Association runs junior and senior domestic competitions out of Wilson Lane, across ten affiliated clubs, plus the Jets representative program. Junior domestic runs Under 12 to Under 19 with no tryout required.

Who Sunbury Basketball are

Sunbury Basketball Association, SBA, serves Sunbury and the surrounding area on Melbourne's north western edge. The representative teams are the Jets.

Ten affiliated clubs operate inside the association. Your child joins one of those rather than the association directly.

What they run

  • Junior domestic, Under 12 to Under 19, weekly, no tryouts
  • Senior domestic for adults
  • Junior Jets in the VJBL, Under 12 to Under 18
  • Sunbury Jets men's and women's premier teams in Big V

Note that junior domestic starts at Under 12 here, so Mini Jets and Future Jets are the route for anyone younger rather than a graded team.

Watching the Jets play

One thing Sunbury does well is publish what it costs to come and watch. Big V games are genuinely cheap family entertainment, and seeing senior basketball live is one of the better ways to get a young player interested.
