Eltham Wildcats Basketball: a parent's guide

Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club has operated since 1965 out of Montmorency and is one of the largest clubs in Victoria, with over 7,000 members. It plays junior domestic in the EDJBA, runs VJBL representative teams, and takes children from age three.

Who the Eltham Wildcats are

Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club Inc has been running since 1965, so more than 60 years. It's a club rather than an association, and its junior domestic teams play in the EDJBA.

The scale is what sets it apart. The club reports over 7,000 members, including more than 3,000 junior players, 1,200 senior players and 600 coaches. That's larger than plenty of full associations.

How to join

With 3,000 junior players the club is used to placing new children, so ring or email with your child's age rather than assuming there's no room.

If they're under five, Mini Cubs is the start rather than a domestic team. For VJBL you need to go through tryouts, and Rep Prep is the program to ask about beforehand.
