If you're driving up from Melbourne for a game, navigate to the Norman Street address rather than to Ballarat generally, and add a buffer on top of whatever the app tells you. It's not a stadium you stumble across on the way into town, and a wrong turn at the end of a long drive is a sour start to a morning.
The stadium is an extension of what was the Wendouree Indoor Sports Centre, so older locals may still call it that. Norman Street is the address to use.
The facility has eight multi use indoor courts, separated into three distinct areas. Alongside them is a 3,000 seat show court with a mix of permanent and retractable seating on three sides, built for events like the NBL, WNBL and national netball.
There's a cafe in the venue concourse serving food and drink, a retail store, a casual shooting area, a high performance centre with a gym and an indoor running track, and a conference and learning centre with function and dining space.
Outside there are three 3x3 basketball courts. If you've a child who wants to keep shooting after their game finishes, that's where they'll end up.

The eight courts split into three separate areas is worth understanding before you arrive. It's not one big room. Find out which area your court is in, because walking from one end to the other with a bag and a younger sibling takes longer than you expect.
Published stadium hours are 9am to 9:30pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm on Saturday and 5pm to 8pm on Sunday, with reception staffed 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
Note the Saturday close at 4pm and the Sunday window starting at 5pm. Those are narrower than most metropolitan stadiums, so weekend junior basketball in Ballarat sits in a tighter band of the day than a Melbourne family might be used to.
If you're travelling up from Melbourne for a representative game, factor that in. As always, your game time comes from the fixture, not from the building hours.
Ballarat is one of the larger regional associations in Victoria, and having eight courts plus a 3,000 seat show court under one roof puts it well ahead of most country venues. A child growing up here has access to a facility that wouldn't be out of place in metropolitan Melbourne.
The practical difference between country and metropolitan junior basketball is travel, not facilities. Representative teams from Ballarat travel further and more often than their metropolitan equivalents, and that's a real commitment for a family to weigh up before saying yes to a rep season.
The high performance centre with a gym and running track is genuinely unusual for a regional stadium. For older juniors moving into strength work under supervision, it's a real advantage.
Give yourself time in the car park and time inside. Eight courts across three areas means the walk from the door to your court can be a few minutes, and your child's warm up starts before the game does.
